ISO 20000 Toolkit Review

Toolkits are popular because they tend to offer a range of different resources to aid implementation. They often include guides, templates, checklists, presentations and similar items, usually crafted and closely interwoven with the main framework, for which they tend to emerge as the prime support resource.

The ISO 20000 Toolkit is very much constructed along the same lines. However, what makes it exceptional is the sheer volume of inclusions. This is not just a small collection of useful items: there are literally dozens of high quality materials. The volume is such that these are organized into 'libraries', which in turn align with the standards themselves (ISO 20000-1 and ISO 20000-2): For example, The Service Delivery Library, The Resolution Process Library, and so on.

The documents are written in pleasing and simple to understand terminology, and are well formatted. In addition, both parts of the standard itself are included. The kit is also well balanced, meaning that it should prove valuable both for those at the sharp end of implementation, and those simply seeking to learn about the standard and ITSM generally. Access is via a download zip, direct from the vendor's website.

All in all, at $795, it offers excellent value. For more information it is documented at The ISO 20000 Toolkit
